July 7-11, 2008
A Dentistry resident from the Animal Dental Center in Towson, MD, spent a week with Dr. Julie Smith and the staff of AnimalScan dedicated to an in-depth review of anesthetic and analgesic management of veterinary patients.  Dentistry residents are required to spend 40 hours with a Board Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist as part of their residency requirements.

Local area Veterinary Surgery Specialists are invited to join Dr. Patrick Gavin, Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist and world renowned authority on MRI for veterinary patients, at AnimalScan for an dinner discussion focused the importance of MRI in diagnosis of many surgical diseases.

August 7, 2008
Dr. Julie Smith presented a continuing education seminar to the technical staff at the Greenbriar Veterinary Referral and Emergency Hospital, Frederick, MD.  Vital signs monitoring during anesthesia of companion pet patients and anesthesia/analgesia protocol review.

September 24, 2008
Practitioners boarded with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners from the surrounding area joined Dr. Robert Toal, Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist and authority on MRI for veterinary patients, for a dinner discussion focused on the implementation of MRI in the diagnostic workup for companion pets.

September 27, 2008
Dr. Julie Smith presented a continuing education seminar to the technical staff at the Mid-Atlantic Animal Specialty Hospital, Huntingtown, MD.  Vital signs monitoring during anesthesia of companion pet patients and anesthesia/analgesia protocol review.

October 26, 2008
Dr. Julie Smith will travel to Virginia Beach, VA, to present Understanding the Benefits of Anesthesia Monitoring and Current Approaches to Anesthetic Management of Companion Pet Patients.  This four hour continuing education seminar is designed for both veterinarians and veterinary technicians and is sponsored by Abbott Laboratories.

November 17, 2008
Dr. Julie Smith will present a continuing education seminar to the technical staff at the Greenbriar Veterinary Referral and Emergency Hospital, Frederick, MD.  Topics to be discussed include ventilation, ventilator use and troubleshooting and overall anesthesia review.

January 15, 2009

The first of three Veterinary Interns, from the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA., is scheduled to spend the week with Dr. Julie Smith and the staff of the AnimalScan as part of a rotating internship.  Rotating Internships allow the interns to spend focused time with specialists in different areas of expertise during their year long program.  This week will be dedicated to anesthesia review and case management.

March 31-April 3, 2009
The second of three Veterinary Interns, from the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA., will spend a week with Dr. Julie Smith and the staff of the AnimalScan as part of a rotating internship.  Rotating Internships allow the interns to spend focused time with specialists in different areas of expertise during their year long program.  This week will be concentrated on anesthesia review and case management.
