Meg Alonso, VMD – Medical Director
Dr. Meg Alonso received her VMD, summa cum laude, in 1979 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from Columbia University and a National Certification in Psychoanalysis from the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis.

Dr. Alonso maintains a wide variety of professional interests, bridging the worlds of human and veterinary science. She has conducted research and published in the field of Cardiac Pharmacology at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in private practice both in Veterinary Medicine and Psychoanalysis, and is one of the original affiliates of the international One Health initiative uniting research and advocacy for the advancement of health in all species throughout the world.

Dr. Alonso served as Disease Intervention Specialist, Agro-terrorism Coordinator and Director of Health Promotion for the Montgomery County, PA Health Department.

She is a charter member of the Baranzano Society for Bioethics, a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Healthcare Executives Network and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Alonso has appeared on television, co-hosted a live weekly talk radio program and has written journal, magazine and newspaper articles on both human and veterinary topics.



Alexia McKnight, DVM, DACVR

Dr. Alexia McKnight received her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. She was the Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center of Veterinary Medicine from 2003 to 2007, where she taught a course on large animal diagnostic imaging.

Dr. McKnight completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the MRI research lab at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, from 1997-1999. Following her fellowship, she completed a 3-year residency in Veterinary Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2003 she was named a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology.

Dr. McKnight has been widely published and has regularly appeared as a guest lecturer on the topic of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
